The ‘Compact’ allows for a shorter housing setup with no monitor – ideal for remote rigging situations, or for use with an external monitor. It is approximately 40mm shorter than using the Monitor Back.

Description

Our DSMC2 MKII underwater camera housing is designed to work with the widely-used RED DSMC2 line of cameras. Newly redesigned and optimised, this water housing includes features like clips for quick and convenient access, an ARCA baseplate for industry-standard compatibility, and full-feature control. Lots of options available for personal customisation based on your preferred underwater camera set up.

Construction

CNC machined from 6061 billet aluminium then anodised and painted. All buttons and hardware are 316 stainless steel, providing superior corrosion resistance.

 

Camera Configuration

Our RED I/O housing is optimised for the following camera configuration:

  • RED DSMC2 Brain
  • RED DSMC2 V-Lock I/O Module
  • Small HD Cine 7
  • V-lock battery no more than 60mm thickness, and protrudes no more than 20mm above the top of the camera. 
  • RED DSMC2 Sidekick (optional)

 

Monitor Options

The housing is optimised for the SmallHD Cine7 Monitor (with the Cine7 Monitor Back), however you can fit other monitors.

If you do require fitment of another monitor, please specify at the time of ordering so we can configure the monitor riser to suit your requirements.

The RED monitors require the use of Wooden Camera Pogo cables.

RED Lemo A adapter does not fit inside the housing.

Instead of Lemo A for the RED PRO TOUCH 7.0″ LCD, use this cable:

I/O Capability

The housing has two M16x1 threads machined in the housing shell. These are plugged off as standard, however they allow the easy fitment of SDI and/or HDMI waterproof bulkheads, external battery inputs, as well as vacuum/ leak sensor bulkheads.

This provides opportunities for external monitoring, additional battery life, and peace-of-mind with a leak sensor.

We recommended Dive and See waterproof bulkheads and cables, as well as Vivid Sentinel leak detectors. However the industry standard thread provides mounting opportunities for a variety of bulkheads that use the M16 thread including the popular Nauticam bulkheads.

We can supply these bulkheads, cables and leak detectors pre-fitted to your housing.

 

Ports

Our RED DSMC2 housing ships with our ‘STANDARD’ port system, which suits lenses up to 105mm diameter, which includes most Canon SLR lenses.

We can custom build ports for almost any lens, including PL mount cinema glass.

The front element in all our ports is user replaceable in less than 30 seconds by simply unscrewing the front locking ring and dropping in a replacement acrylic screen we offer for purchase.

So no more spending hours buffing scratched ports!

 

Grips

The housing ships with two side handle grips. These are CNC machined from the same aluminium the housing is built from, and offer a very comfortable ODI Vans BMX grip.

There are several grip mounting points provided on the housing, allowing users to setup the handles to suit their individual requirement. The grips can be positioned at various locations along the housing, in high-mode or low-mode, and/or offset from each other.

The grips are removable with an Allen key for easy transporting of the housing.

 

Accessory Mounting

The housing offers a number of 1/4-20 threads along the top and bottom edges of the housing.

These can be used to mount lightweight accessories such as a GoPro.

If you wish to mount heavy accessories, such as lighting, you will require a custom cheeseplate.
